Academic Requirements

  • Undergraduate: HSC/A-Level equivalent with strong grades
  • Postgraduate: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (2:1 or CGPA 3.0+)
  • Offer of Place from an NZQA-approved education provider
  • Foundation programmes available for students needing academic preparation

English Language

  • IELTS Academic: 6.0โ€“6.5 overall (no band below 5.5)
  • TOEFL iBT: 80โ€“90+ depending on institution
  • PTE Academic: 50โ€“58 overall for most programmes
  • Some providers accept medium-of-instruction letters from English-medium schools

Financial Requirements

  • Proof of funds: NZ$20,000 per year or NZ$1,667 per month for living costs
  • Tuition fees: NZ$22,000โ€“NZ$45,000 per year depending on programme
  • Bank statements showing funds held for required period
  • Scholarship letters accepted as supplementary evidence

Student Visa

  • Valid passport (3+ months beyond intended stay)
  • Offer of Place from approved provider
  • Proof of tuition payment or scholarship
  • Medical and travel insurance for full study period
  • Medical certificates and police clearance if required

Work Rights

  • Eligible students may work up to 25 hours per week during semester (from Nov 2025)
  • Full-time work permitted during scheduled breaks
  • Partner work rights may apply for selected postgraduate programmes
  • Post Study Work Visa available after qualifying graduation
